Working with McEwan Fraser Legal during the summer can offer you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a busy legal office.
We can offer students placements at our Head Office in Edinburgh, throughout the summer period. Many of our student placements decide to stay with us longer before commencing their diploma. We can also offer students who impress us part time work including evening and weekend work while they continue their studies
A placement at McEwan Fraser Legal is a valuable opportunity for any law students to experience our business environment and culture while gaining excellent work experience.
You will assist our Solicitors and Paralegals on all client matters and carry out legal research and you will have the opportunity to communicate with our clients. This will allow you to gain valuable "on the job" practical experience to enhance your legal skills.
Placements will be available in residential conveyancing.
Summer Placement FAQ's
In 2019, we will be offering up to 4 placements at our head office in Edinburgh.
Placements are normally 2-4 months and we may be able to accommodate any brief holidays during this period. We will give priority to students who can give us consecutive weeks of employment.
To be considered for a placement you need to have completed at least your first year of your degree or had previous legal experience working in a legal office.
Previous legal work experience is not necessary but we are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic about conveyancy law and keen to learn more.
You will generally meet with one of our partners.
Yes, if you are recruited you will be paid during your time with us.
Yes students who impress us can be offered part time or full time work beyond any summer placement.
Yes we do, any placement who impress us and have successfully worked with McEwan Fraser Legal can often lead to a Traineeships with the firm subject to availability.
